Speak Life

We can count on God’s promises! Cherish each one. Make it personal. Write them down on lined paper – every promise in the Bible that you need., so that even if your mind seems cluttered with so many obstacles – even if you can’t always remember where each promise is found, you will be able to see the promises and speak the promises.

Rely upon that list, thus being able to locate them in your Bible and speak them for yourself,  for each member of your family, and for the family of believers in Christ. The power of life and death is in the tongue – your tongue . We must decide to speak life! In my journey, and believing the Word of God, I have learned the importance of “speaking” the Word. Proverbs 18:2 told me that “The power of life and death is in the tongue” – my tongue – so I decided to speak life!” I spoke “joy” instead of sadness.  I spoke “life” about and over my grown children and my grandchildren. I also began to understand the danger of “speaking” words the enemy could use against me, knowing that my words had the power of death, as well as the power of life. Words such as “My daughter will always battle drug addiction; cancer runs in my family; no one in my family has lived a long life; I get sick every year at this time” should never came out of our mouths. Ask the Lord to show you negative statements or connotations you speak. And if you falter, don’t fret! Just rebuke the enemy and change that negative statement into a positive one, all in the name of Jesus!  Below are just a few of the promises from Scripture I have depended upon – some I speak aloud and have personalized, knowing these promises are for me! You can use your concordance and locate them in your Bible, noting, highlighting, and perhaps listing them on paper to refer to when you find it difficult to locate them. They are God’s promise for you, as well!

I have received a precious faith. Your divine power has given me great and precious promises.

You have promised me so much, Lord. You promised me that if I raised my child in the way she should go, she would not turn from it, and Lord, she is now a new creation in you.

I asked for it, Lord because you had told me that you will do whatever I ask in your name to bring glory to the Father, and you granted it.

I remind myself that your promises are true now and forever – true for me and for (speak the names of your family). I can count on your promises now and I do count on your promises now.

My desire ends only in good.

The judge’s wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense.

My humility and righteous fear of you, O God, the Father, brings wealth and honor and life. It brings children who are honoring you – grandchildren who have life with their parents.

I pursue righteousness and love. I will find life, prosperity, and honor.

There is a future for me; my hope will not be cut off.

I am (we are) blessed. My children will be mighty in the land. We will continue to be blessed. Wealth and riches are in my house; my righteousness endures forever. Even during this time of “apparent” darkness, light dawns for us because you, O Lord, are a gracious, compassionate, and righteous man. Good will come to us; I have no fear of bad news. My heart is steadfast; I trust in you, Lord. My heart is secure; I have no fear; in the end, I will look with triumph on my foes. My dignity is lifted high in honor.

Show us your strength O God, as you have done before. Summon your power, O God. Rebuke the beast.

Because I have clean hands and a pure heart, I will receive your blessing – and my generation is such – (speak the name of each child and/or grandchild) – and their families.

I trust in you. You will not let me be put to shame; my enemies will not triumph over me. Remember your great mercy and love. Do not remember my sin or (speak the name of each of your children) sin. For the sake of your name, forgive our iniquity, though it is great. (I know you have!) I will spend my days in prosperity and my children will inherit the land. Redeem us, O God, from all our troubles.

Your joy, O Lord is my strength.

Because I obey you, Lord, I will be blessed wherever I am and my children, (speak the name of each of your children), will be blessed all the time!

Because I obey your commands, you will send refreshing rain to bless us . . . we will be satisfied. (Oh, how I look forward to that rain!)

No longer will Jacob be ashamed; they will keep your name Holy and will stand in awe of you. Let (speak the name of each loved one) live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest; how blessed they will be. You tend us like a shepherd; you gather us in your arms and carry us close to your heart. You gently lead us with our young (speak the name of each of your children or grandchildren).
